The Journal of Economic Literature, first published in 1969, is designed to help economists keep abreast of the vast flow of literature. The journal publishes four issues per year containing commissioned, peer-reviewed analytic guides to bodies of work, as well as review essays, book reviews, an annotated bibliography of new books classified by subject matter, and an annual index of dissertations from North American universities.
